It doesn't bother me so much that the 'free lunch' is over... actually, it wasn't really free anyways with all the grief experienced due to the unstable pb platform when trying to share pics. Anyways, if the butt-wipes that control it hadn't been so greedy and graduated the fees per actual usage, it might have saved their site from the backlash it is deservedly receiving.

I don't mind paying a reasonable fee for something, but $399/year is beyond ridiculous and well into the totally absurd!

Welp, as of right now if you go back and add ~original to the back of the .jpg in your image location ala ".jpg~original" the 3rd party hosting actually hosts and posts up the picture vs. their paywall image.

This is outrageous. Who would pay $399 when you have other image hosting sites that do it for free!?

Go to P-bucket and download your albums to your hard drive.
Is there a way to do that other than one picture at a time? I have 1,300 pictures there; I'm sure I have them on hard drives somewhere, but it'd be nice to just collect them all from PB before deleting the account just in case.

There used to be a 'download album' option in the album actions area on the lower right. It's not there anymore.
Maybe it's part of their ransomware scheme, make us pay to save?

Got this response back from PB:
Moss (Photobucket Support)

Dec 5, 1:22 PM MST

Hello,

Unfortunately, the download album feature is no longer available. In order to download your content from Photobucket, please use the following steps:

Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account
Step 2. Navigate to your library page
Step 3. Click on a photo to enlarge it
Step 4. Click the download button
Step 5. The picture will be saved to your computer

We understand that downloading images individually can be time consuming. However, this is the only option we have at this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

Like I'm going to download 1,300 pictures from their slow site one at a time? Fat chance of that; those pictures were uploaded over 11 years! Guess I'll just kiss them goodbye.

NOT ONLY WILL THEY EVER SEE ONE DIME OF MY MONEY-I WILL ALSO NEVER NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE USE THEM IN THE FUTURE!

And I know that murk zoorkerborg will do the very same thing in the near future folks so start backing up your pictures from there as soon as possible would be my advice!

Obviously PB is entirely within their rights to decide to charge for their services. The complaint isn't that, it's the way they handled it; it's beyond shady and reeks of ransomware.
And the fee they decide to charge is beyond reasonable, IMO.
