I have been told the power steering unit conversion for the 67, etc. is the same for 65 and 66. I'm finding that I need to shorten the steering column (3 speed column shift) about an inch to make the bendix unit work, Does anyone know if that is so or if I'm overlooking something? Thank you.

Ron: First of all, welcome to the FORDification forums!
Yes, the steering and chassis is the same for the '65-'66 trucks...the Bendix PS swap is identical. You're the second person I've heard of who mentioned they had to shorten things up by about 1". Now I'll admit I've never actually done the swap myself, (was PLANNING to until I just decided to go a step further and upgrade to the Saginaw box and column instead), but I understand it's supposed to be an exact exchange, that the manual box and the power Bendix box has identical physical dimensions. Is the rag joint slid onto the Bendix box's input shaft all the way? The steering column mounting bracket (where it connects to the dash area) is slotted to allow for some adjustment there....are you saying it's not enough?
Definitely let us know what you find out, in case the POWER STEERING TUTORIAL needs to be edited to include additional information.

It also makes a difference if it is 4x4 or 4x2 as to what years you can use . The 4x4 sit behind the front axle. The 73 79 power steering set up works good for these trucks
