water temp wire

Post by Billybobjunky »

hmmm...i'm wiring in some new gauges and this caught my attention. I use the ole light indicator to see which wires have charge and whatnot, and usually when a wire has a charge, it is a steady light. when workin on the blinker wires, it would blink no biggie. But now when I hold the wire for the water temp sender and turn the key, the light is steady...for about 5 seconds and then just continually blinks off and on. I'm just gonna find another hot wire, but just thought this was interesting. Any idea why this happened?

That sounds normal, the power for the senders will blink because it's on a regulator. The 5 second steady power is the regulator warming up.

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

I see! So hookin up the original electrical sender wire up to a light that needs to be steady won't work bc i'll have that constant blink, correct? Didn't know that. Thanks!
