another pittyfull update..
well i havent gotten alot done at all, since the shelter over the truck had collapsed on the poor trucky. anyways, we got it back up minus the tarp today. i managed to sqeeze some work time in on the truck. I removed the horns, the jack holder, horn relay, batter, battery tray(trash, its rusted through), 10 lbs of gunky stuff, and ... umm thats it
BUT, I took the horns, and jack holder off so i could get the inner fenders taken off once the tarp is back on the shelter and so i could clean them really good, and paint them with the few cans of gloss black rattle can i just bought. im going to strip, primer and paint every thing in the engine compartment except the engine. ( all brackets and stuff too).
I hope to get the heater/ ac set up stuff pulled too soon. well thats it really.

oh and anyone know what this stuff is? its sprayed all over the underside of the hood.

So is that would that little hold down on the driver side is for?!? The Jack? Never would have guessed it.

I can send you a picture of my engine bay if you'd like. It's solid black, flat black, but will be gloss sooner or later. The motor is black as well. When I put in the stainless loom, and the chrome enginer accessories (filter/valve covers) that should bring out some color in there.

It's too uniform to be oil.Besides that it is coated as far forward as I can see.If it was oil it would start about 18" from the front. The fan wash would push it rewards. :)

An old undercoating with a nice layer of dirt on it (hence the tan color). My old Fairlane had the exact same thing under it. Hard to get off. Kinda like tar.

it feels so good to update :woohoo: :drive: :yip:
after a month, today i have been able to get alot of progress!!!!
heres what i did and found- i took off most of the front clip, found that the rear frame had been torched off, a wire mess under the bed, a bunch of bondo on the bed, and i found out that the original color scheme was white roof, skyviewblue upper portion, white bottom portion.

Image
this is just a wee-bit of what was in the cowl drain
Image

now for the bad news :( . look what the PO did to install the cheby bumper  =

the tubes from the hitch go and weld onto the frame, just before it is cut

more bad-

MOREerreerererer bad! (that would be bondo, which is on the bed, and goes for a long length  )
Image

i will update frequently now that i have something to work under

Looking good Ryan  The worst I've seen is where the village idiot went bonkers with a gas axe.A good welder can fix that pretty easy.As far as the bondo and butchered wiring goes things like that are to be expected when working on a truck that's crowding 40 years old. :)
