OK....I went and talked to my boss today and Miss Yvonne and I have been having a continuous discussion about the MNG. As far as we can determine barring some catostrophic event we can be there and with the old flatbed. My boss really came through on this one because he realized it meant so much to me.

LOL....actually he is a good boss..............considering he is going to have to cover my job in my absence. He doesnt ask anyone to do anything in the operation he wont do himself. My job is the hardest one in the place and everyone there avoids ever having to do it..........except him. He says my job is hard enough that I deserve to take a few days off exrtra a year while he does it or makes sure its covered...These days.......... that is a huge benefit. And I am extremely grateful that he treats me that way.

That's cool Charlie! :woohoo:
Hey...maybe we try to do something like we did in Florida a few years back?! If both you and I show up with the flat beds we've got a big place to hang out and to cook if we wanted to!
I don't have the bimini top anymore and my trucks changed a little since then LOL:

Jeff

I dont see any reason why we couldnt do something like that. In fact Miss Yvonne and I had already discussed it. These old flatbeds have many uses and many is the time they have been used on farms in the fields for just such a purpose. One thing that did come up in mine and Yvonnes discussions though is city regulations. It is at least possible that we might need clearance in one certain area where we would meet that the practice might be frowned upon. Once we have a definate location for the meet and greet I am more than willing to go check out and see if there are any possible obstacles. Personally I dont think there will be many if any......but it couldnt hurt to make sure in a tourist town.

You DA-MAN Jeff! Wonder if there's a parking lot close by for the overflow. Bumps only in the venue, imports, chebbies, mopar and other off color vehicles off premises. Wouldn't want my '90 Toyo Camry to devalue ya'lls trucks! Maybe I'll get mine finished in time to make the 2014 show. I know it'll never make the 2013

Me and my dad will be there in my 70 bump. I'm from Rome, GA and never posted. I do need some help with disk brake conversion before the show, I have not had any luck with finding a doner truck.

Cool! There'll be a wealth of information to help you! Look forward to meeting you!

Guys, every time I look at the calendar I see a different date :? I can only be there on that Saturday which, this time I looked, is the 19th. I'll be there between 9 and 10 am. Is that a good time/day for everybody?

Charlie, good point about city ordinances. And if we meet in the AM we'd probably not be cooking anyway. I'd say we have a firm date and time then Randy! Hopefully we can nail down a location soon.
Meeting in the AM would also give us the chance to walk through the show later afterwards.

I had a funny thought today. Picture this....the venue is filled with classic trucks, lined up in all their shiny, chromed out splendor, 10's of thousands of dollars each, Do Not Touch signs everywhere, people milling about, ooing and ahhing over them, drooling and dreaming. In the distance you hear the low rumble of exhaust that sounds like a far off thunder. As it gets closer, you begin to hear odd noises...squeaks, thuds, ticks, grinds and thwops. Then single file, we all pull up in our "classic" trucks in all their daily driver splendor. Shades of grey primer, red primer, rust and mud. 30 bumps, one after another tool into the parking and start lining up side by side, lifters ticking, exhaust popping, AM radios blaring through busted speakers and an occasional clank as a muffler hits an axle housing. As the keys are turned off, a couple continue to "diesel" until they finally die with a clatter and a whoosh. We all get out in our ball caps, T shirts, faded jeans and dirty tennis shoes and work boots, pull out our lawn chairs and prop a big BUMP sign in front, holler YEE-HAW! and start wandering toward the show trucks. I bet they'd run like a bunch a scared rabbits!
