computer problem and a thought

Post by fordman »

i have had pauses in my connection when i change pages sometimes. otherwise my computer works pretty good. if i were to remove something to do with the connection itself what would i remove. i don't mean remove the connection but remove it from the device manager. so that when i reboot the plug and play would find it and reinstall it for me so i could refresh it. no not the modem. that is fine. i tried that and that wasn't the problem. what device am i looking for? like one of the irq;s or ports that control the connection itself. it is not a virus or any spyware. i have those programs and they are all up to date and working fine. it is a problem that came just after i reinstalled my internet connection with thier cd. but i have removed their cd content from the hard drive and manually typed it back in and it is still hanging on. so i need to wipe out what thier software did to my computer so it won't stall between pages.

Is it just here or is it on every site you visit?

If it is only here I have noticed that even at work with the T1 connection that it will hesitate and sometimes even lose connection with this site.

Have you defragged lately?

its actually the same as 98 with a few additions. like file sharing and system restore stuff. but its been turned off because of a virus that may have gotten into the restore file.
