Adjusting guage panel voltage

Post by ttyR2 »

I vaguely recall that if all the guages read low (fuel, temp, etc) that there is a voltage regulator behind the dash that can be adjusted so the fuel guage reads full with a full tank of gas. Can anyone point me to where the regulator is and how it is adjusted before I pull the dash apart?

The adjustment does indeed work, on my '71 F250. The regulator on the back of the gauge cluster has a small metal stub that's flattened on both sides that you can grasp with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Turning it clockwise increases the voltage. With the fuel tank completely topped off, a couple tweeks of the regulator and it reads a full tank now.

About 1/4 turn clockwise.

sounds about right i made that adjustment a few years back. When a new sending unit wouldn't register full.
