Brighter Headlights - Even in broad daylight! (photo's)

Post by Sharkdance »

Greetings all,

Thanks to 390Nut, Ive got one less worry for my 70 F250. (thanks Dude!)
I bought one of his relay/headlamp harnesses and got it installed the very next day after receiving it.
Well made product, easy to install, and a huge improvement over the stock headlamp harness setup.

Tools needed:
Drill
Drill Bit
1/2" wrench
screwdriver

Hardware needed:
3 sheet metal screws
5 wire clips (optional)
5 wire ties

Ease of installation:
Novice
Harness was so easy to install I didnt even have to refer to the well written and illustrated instructions included with the harness.

Harness and instructions. As received
Image
Open hood, disconnect battery.
Image
Remove headlamps and battery.
Image
Harness pulled thru H/L bucket.
Image
Relays and inline fuse installed
Image
Harness installed in less than 45 minutes.
Headlamps noticeably brighter even in broad daylight.

Thanks again 390Nut. Im very happy with the harness and would recommend this upgrade for anyone who needs it.

well I will sure be needing one but have to get my truck back together so I can get to that point. Hopefully 390Nut will still be making some in a couple of months.

Why did you remove the headlights?

Don't you just unplug them from the back?

I'm looking forward to installing mine too! Glad that it looks to be real easy. I'm waiting to get a set of the halogen headlamps from LMC.

Actually, its only the left hand H/L that needs to be removed. I just removed both of them cuz it seemed like a good time to apply some dielectric grease to both connections.
But unless your missing the upper valance panel, I dont see how you could get to the back of the bulb without removing it.

I would like to echo Sharkdance's post. I got my harness from Paul and was immediatly impressed with the quality. I installed mine behind the battery box without having to remove it, it was a tight fit but, very do'able. AND, the headlights are fantastic. I put new halogen bulbs (from WalMart) in while I was at it and the difference is like night and... I won't say that.

Thanks Paul!

That harness really looks like a quality piece. Nice going 390nut! I have used similar harnesses from aftemarket companies and they have got nothing on this one. It is really a great upgrade that everyone should be doing to our trucks. Along that lines you can also upgrade the headlights for not much more than the cost of replacement by going to Autozone, O'reilly, Pep Boys and look at Sylvania silver lite or something like that series. I have used these at our shop and been really impressed.
