front 68 F250 replacement axle?

Post by zakt »

I have the stock 68 F250 axle, I assume Dana 44 (drum brakes). Now is the 76-79 have a dana 60 front disk brake axle that will bolt in?? Thought about buying a new axle but thought the ball joint new ones might not be as good??

The 761/2 - 79 F250 have dana 44's I believe the snowfighter option had a D60 and I think f350 had d60's the 79 f350 should have a high pinon d60. so far that what my research has uncovered. I'm sure someone will have more on the subject

The balljoint axles are much better.

I put a 76 unit in my 69 F250. Alot of people prefer that later ones because of the high pinion though. Mine was a simple bolt in swap.
