What springs for lift?

I know , there's other posts that have talked about lifting 4" or so. But I'm trying to find what to use. I've seen posts of people using later year kits and stock u bolts and such or stealing them off super duty. Or how 80-91 don't work or something. I guess what I'm asking is what are you specifically what your using for your lift.
I would ask my an old offroad ford guy but I don't know any. I've also checked rancho lifts , tuff country etc. and they didn't have kits or very little details. Course I most likely wouldn't go for new stuff. As far as my goal is , I'm going for 36's to match the family's old bump. (which is gone) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRcN_pSd6Nk

really the springs in back dont do any lifting. is the spacer blocks that give the lift. you are not suppose to use spacer blocks on the fronts. it causes an unsafe condition.

4" springs are all there really is off the shelf for 67-79 Fords. They should fit 36's fine.

67-77.5 are essentially the same exact chassis (just disc brakes for 76-77.5). 77.5 through 79 the trucks sat 2" lower and are NOT considered highboys, however, the front leaf springs interchange between all 67-79 trucks. A 4" lift for 67-77 trucks is a 6" lift for a 77.5-79 truck.

Factor in front springs, rear springs or a shackle flip, longer front and rear shocks, a disc brake front axle if you still have the stocker since steering arm blocks are not available for closed knuckle front ends, all the associated disc brake stuff- MC, prop valve, lines, hoses and brackets and new/retubed drivelines front and rear. Not to mention wheels and tires.

If you're a good fabricator you can do this stuff without hacking the truck at all for $600-700+tires and wheels. If you buy everything new you can rather easily spend a few grand. The best way to do it is buy a beater wheeler someone's already put all these parts into and steel them for your truck.
