Brake switch

Post by mcarlson11 »

Those of you that know, I am in the middle of the disc brake swap.

I know that I am supposed to use some sort of late model brake switch that goes on the brake pedal assembly itself, instead of the master cylinder. Where do I get this part from, what years work? Can I buy it new? And, how do I mount it to the pedal assembly since my 65 doesnt have a bracket for it? :hmm:

Any and all help is appreciated.

Most any Ford. Goes on the pivot on the pedal where the rod goes on.

The two styles that come to mind are the (1.)Long switch style with the lil push button and (2.)the spring switch that mounts to your brake bolt. I honestly like the 2nd style better because you can get it on your truck fairly easy and they are a snap to wire up. Just trace the original switch wirings and hook em right up.

yep, Autozone carried the one i'm using, even though it didn't match the year I asked for. This isn't the exact one, but this is the kind i'm referring to. On the opposite side of the black part it'll have two lil terminals for your wires to attach to. Stoplight Switch

totally just found it in the LMC catalog. It's part number 47-0662 and it runs $6.95. Looks just like the one in the previous posts link. It's listed as specific to the 1967 pick-up only, but that ain't entirely true I dont think. You can put this on any brake pivot bolt. Good luck, hope I helped!

Please excuse the quality, these were taken on about a 5 yr old jazz digistix, but these are in-cab shots of the mounted switch. Angelfire doesn't allow direct-linking of media so you'll have to right-click and select "copy shortcut" then paste in your address bar. Hope these help! Switch shot 1Switch shot 2
