over loaded?

Post by 1970F250 »

is it just me or is the helper leaf touching the stop pad? mine is a good 4 inchs from the stop pad and it didn't go down when i had about 30 v8 crankshafts in the bed. so how much weight must be in the bed of this truck? :hmm:

Hopefully not much with that rotted out bed support.

 I didn't know it was possible to overload these things.  I've had about 2000 lbs of concrete pads in my crew's bed and it handled it very well.

If it's a 250 your ok. The Dana will carry it.
A 9" in a 100 WILL bend. :)

The photo above is from my parts truck, a '68 F100. It does have some weight in the backend when that picture was taken, like a topper, an engine/transmission and a full-width diamond-plate bed floor. Normally there should be a little space between the overload spring and the bracket. I'd also say the rear leafs are a little worn out, so that'll make it settle a bit more too.
