power steering collumn questions

Post by adam138 »

I have recently been having too many problems with my standard in my 69 f 100.I have found an automatic tranny that should work but the column in mine is a 3 on the tree.Ihave 2 old columns from a truck with power steering. would it be a problem since my truck has the old armstrong manual steering.I would much rather use one of these than cut a hole in the floor for a shifter since my floor is perfect.

Not at all....since the manual-steering shaft is longer than the PS shaft, you should be able to simply pull out the shorter PS shaft from the new column and slide in the longer MS shaft.

Pull the steering wheel off and the shaft will slide out the bottom end of the column.

:yt: You'll have to remove the column, then remove the wheel. The shafts will slide right out the bottom. Then just switch them around and reassemble. There will either be a clamp or a lock-collar down at the bottom of the column on the shaft that will need to be adjusted, but that should be about it.
