transmission

Post by 1970F250SC »

hey, guys whats up again,, yesterday, i became aware of the chance to buy a t-18 or a t-19 transmission for my truck {2wd f250}< its automatic, and i want it to be manual, but i know these tranny's have a PTO output, ,, what would that be for? , and im wondering if it would work, besides the bellhousing, and tailshaft? , basically, im just wondering what all i would need to do for it to work thanks __ jeff

well the PTO on my truck runs (ok ran) the front mounted winch on my truck.
but it is installed in the transfer case, not the tranny. which means I had 4 speeds power in, and 1 speed power out, (or was it the other way around?? I can't remember??)

and sure it will work. you need the bellhousing, clutch set-up. pivots on the frame and the bellhousing/engine block, clutch linkage, cluch pedal assy, floor shifter cover, and the proper driveshaft for your truck. then you will want to change your steering column to match. (did I miss anything? probably!)

I've done this swap. with a donor truck or a bunch of scavenging, its pretty easy.
Good Luck!

FYI: PTO stands for "Power Take Off" with a PTO set up you can operate all sorts of implements!
