My C6 is whining

Post by HOWDY69 »

My C6 has an intermittent whine. I notice it most when I come to a stop. My mechanic says the transmission pump is going and my pressure will continue to decrease until my transmission is fried. I would like to drive it a while longer if I can since I just put alot of money in my engine. How will I know when it is time for a rebuild?

It's time to get the tranny worked on now!
If you wait until the tranny fries and ruins a lot of internal parts, you will spend a lot more than if you did the job now.
If it's just the pump going bad, that will be a lot less than new internals.
Do yourself a favor and have it done.

Better give it some Cheese...

What's the fluid look like?
Is it brownish/carmel colored?
Does it smell burned?

when it refuses to move another inch you will know that you have gotten the goodie out of it- maybe forever-as flyboy stated the time is now- on a lighter note remember the man code- NO WHINING- maybe if you spank it or give it a good lecture it will stop misbehaving  -   jd

I don't know. It doesn't seem that loud to me. :hmm: Maybe I will take it to a tranny shop and have them drive it. I had it serviced last month and they didn't say anything about it then. Fluid and pan were clean.

Did they put enough fluid back in it? You could go back there and use
the "ever since, never did that before" story.

I don't hear anything now. Could it have been due to the engine just being back in and the fluid had not quite filled up the torque converter or there was air in the system. It is a mystery to me. The buzz I used to here occasionally seems to be gone now to.
