Yes they are. And the carpet was not on the firewall. Thanks for everyone trying to help me. Will that report (Standard) tell me if the truck was an XLT from the factory?

I believe a Marti report would tell you if it is a Ranger XLT.

Might take the next one up to tell you how comparatively rare it is.

Been meaning to order one myself...

Would be interesting info on yours...

Ordered the report. We will see. Also looking at the wheels. Did they come orginally with split rims. the front two are. but the back are not. thanks for all the help. I will share the report when i get it. It seems that, by all the talk, that the Truck is just a Ranger, but what If? LOL.

It more than likely came originally with 16.5 inch wheels and split rims. Many people get rid of the split rim 16.5 inch and go to a 16 inch non split rim wheel. The 16 inch wheels with the 6.5 inch bolt pattern for the F250's were used by Ford up thru 1996. If you plan on going with aluminum wheels or alloy wheels and you have disk brakes in the front you might want to go with 17" wheels for better clearance of the calipers. You can still find some 16.5 inch tires, but they are getting harder to find, and your selection is limited. Split rims are a concern for safety, and many places won't take a tire off a split rim unless they have the right equipment to do it.

Most of the reports show tire size as well... i believe.

Might e-mail them and see if they will dig up the color, they talk about the blank color code and say the information is sometimes in the comments. not sure it thats automatically included.

Are you planning to do some modification upgrades for this classic car?

No Sir. Going to try to keep as original as possible. Don't know if i am going to keep it. I already have a 72 F100 Ranger XLT. Me and a buddy have owed these in the past. We just thought we had something we have never seen.

79 blue 4X4 long bed

Those are the ones we have had and fixed them up. They are fun to work on.

So I ordered an Deluxe Marti on mine a few days after we were talking about them, I can confirm it list Ranger XLT in both the interior section and in "Your Vehicle Was Equipped With".

So does that mean it was an XLT from the factory? Still don’t have mine.

I got an email a few days before the report asking for some information and putting it "on hold" until i replied, might check in with them?

On the bottom my report says:
Your vehicle was equipped with the following features:
- Ranger XLT Package
- G78x15-B White Sidewall Tires
- Optional Vacuum Booster
- Manual AM Radio
- Full Wheel Covers
- Power Steering
- Heavy Duty Rear Springs

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 68 Ranger F-100. I recall it has the same VIN plate as yours with no paint code. My color does not appear on the Acme charts. My truck is scattered between a couple garages while we're working on it so I can't recall where my VIN plate is off hand. Where is your VIN plate located? Did you ever find a color match? How'd you do it? Right now I am hunting to match the original color and don't trust the machine matching experiencing many fails. Please reply so I can get my paint.

Oh yeah, to the guys who say our situation is a one-off, or someone was cobbling a truck together, I say horse hockey. I've seen too many trucks like mine that were badged Ranger and then get the special paint treatment. My guess is Ford offered it as an add-on where a buyer could choose any color they wanted, period. Whey else would there be no color code or even a place for one? Also, I just talked to an auto body paint supply house and he said he concurs.
