Steering column rubber boot

Post by Razorback »

I have searched forums and websites until I’m cross eyed. Can anyone give me a part number or source on the rubber piece around the steering column. This is from a ‘70 F100.

I have that part as well. That one stick through the firewall from inside to out I believe. This one I’m looking for was on the inside of the cab up against the firewall insulation.

I have never seen that part you are talking about on a factory set up? I have seen a number of these trucks in junk yards and have never come across that before. The only ones I have seen are the ones that Randy had the image of. Here are a few threads that show the rubber seal that Randy is talking about:

Let us know if you find something out about it. Maybe someone added it over the years.

:yt: I don't recall anything other than the one boot and the metal plate.

Btw, the first one I mentioned is for a power steering column. Carpenter also has the one for manual steering which is what yours looks like. C7TZ-3513-B

While we're at it, does anyone know a good source for paint that would match that green color on the steering column? Mine is the same color and eventually it needs to be repainted. I was thinking maybe one of those Duplicolor cans that you can get at auto parts stores that's for that dark green metallic that ford used in the late 90s, which would look good but wouldn't be perfect, obviously.

After searching for several hours and pulling out most of my hair, it appears that the P/N for this grommet (or whatever you want to call it) is C4AZ-3512-A. It's not in any of the illustrations but I found it in a Ford automotive catalog. It was only used on trucks for a couple of years and I'm looking for the same part for my '70 Ranger XLT. Hope this helps!!

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

A little late but I just removed my steering column out of my 72 highboy and it has the same rubber boot.
