I am pretty sure the vans are different. If you don't have power steerring I doubt that tightening the box will help much, maybe a little but I have never had it do much. Most of the wear on these is side to side wear on the pitman shaft bushing and tightening it won't help that. Unfortunately there is nothing you can replace as the pitman shaft bushing is really just a machined portion of the housing. I was always going to research machining out a housing for the torrington bearing like Chevy uses. I have had the rebuild kit from Torinos that had a new "bushing" that replaced one of the spacers in the seal pack. It will tighten the pitman back up, but for how long? It is only about 1/4 inch thick. I never knew why they didn't put it in the pickup rebuild kits but I have used them in there.
If you need a 6 cylinder p/s bracket I can get one from the junk yard but for the newer style pump. The only problem I had using one on my 72 was pulley alignment. I always had to pull the pulley back out about 1/4 inch from where it should be installed. Plus you have to use the newer swivel ended pressure hose off an 80 or so.

And a comment on parts store remans. I have to wonder if they rebush the pitman. The only box I ever bought was from Napa for an 85 Suburban 4x4 I had and it was almost as sloppy as the one I took off.
