Interesting.

Wonder how the hastings filters are compared to the rest?

Also seems that the AC Delco ones were slightly favored in this one.

I know that on the Allis tractors if you use the Fram style filter on them you will lose oil pressure and possibly cause damage to the engine.

the 2 filters that have been recommended to me from mechanics and racers have been either the motorcraft or the wix-jd

I've seen that site before and it's great info! Everyone seems to think that Fram is the way to go--well, um, guess again!

Glad i have been using the motorcraft all these years. Used that orange fram one time when I couldnt find a FL1A and I thought my oil looked dirty when I changed it after using it but I thought that was just me until now.

I used to use Fram until we learned about oil filters in my Autoshop class. After that I only use WIX.

At one local parts place they have ONLY fram. I don't buy filters there anymore. I used to buy my FL1A at Walmart, but I haven't seen on there in a while.

Should have seen the oil pressure gauge in my Subaru running a Fram junk filter- get on the highway , have 75psi, look down again, have 20psi, watch the needle climb back up with no change in rpm or throttle position. Put on a Wix, no more problems.
I only run dealership Motorcraft filters on my trucks, unless I'm broke, then they get Wix. There is a difference between the actual Ford Motorcraft filters and the wally world ones.

Be warned, we have been told the motorcraft filters from ford are not to be used on our cruisers because they have a defect in them. The cases will split and basically the whole filter will blow up, leaving you with NO oil. The motorpool had to send back several cases of filters to the dealer and went to the Napa and bought them there.
